Who I am

I am a community organizer that serves organizations and communities dedicated to making the world a better place. I create and facilitate strategies for efficiency. 

 

By taking into account the unique operational dynamics and goals of what you need,I develop systems for optimal performance to reach your ultimate goal. 

Strategies for play, resolutions, community development, Org. dev, events community programming and more. 

Aranya Solutions is the nonprofit I created to create abundant solutions to the problems in the world today. However we have abundant solutions, my team and I are here to serve you in those functions.There are brilliant minds at work to help you,  in any way you need. We got people through our networks. We got you! We focus on sustainable solutions. 

 

Aranya means "Abundant Forest" in Sanskrit. It signifies plentitude, generosity, resources, and prosperity. We operate like a bee in a forest, pollinating, connecting people to resources and things to create an abundant ecological system, Abundant Forest. We are here to serve you.

Aranya's projects are in Nepal, Uganda, and Disaster Relief and Recovery efforts. 

Aranya delivers a sense of responsibility, love, and balance. We are ever helpful, conscientious, and quite capable of harmonizing  situations. Aranya is devoted to the betterment of community and ecology with a depth of understanding that evokes understanding key connections to valuable resources for the situation at hand with kindness and generosity. Transperancy, Openess and honesty are apparent in Arayna's approach to all relations while connecting to resources. 

Katrina Zavalney

 

A little about me... book time with me and then you'll get the real goods! Let's create history!!

Katrina is a change agent with a Masters in Organization Development from Sonoma State University with 15 years of experience in community development, facilitation, sustainability, and event management. She enjoys working with multiple groups and spanning different sectors to create a system that works for all. Currently Katrina lives in Oakland, CA and consults with communities and organizations to become more effective in upholding their mission through program development, stakeholder analysis, and strategic planning. She enjoys traveling and engaging in International Community Development. She spent the majority of 2017 in SE Asia, primarily volunteering in Nepal for sustainable and community development efforts. 

 

Most recently Katrina lived in the Mississippi Delta as the Director  for the City of Clarksdale’s Revitalization Program, supporting economic development, a successful Farmers' Market, and quality of life. She also developed the strategic plan for both the Alabama and Mississippi Sustainable Agriculture Network while teaching theater to at-risk youth with the Griot Arts after school program and provided support to develop their Meraki job training program.

 

In 2012 Katrina was developing environmental policies company wide at The Walt Disney Company consulting with all sectors of this global company from theme parks to consumer products, games and feature productions. Most notably Katrina worked on the Paper Sourcing and Use Policy at Disney for 2 years which was released in 2012.  Known as the “Sustainability Wizard” Katrina was brought onto Summit Series to consult on their sustainable practices for events and long term engagement. 

 

Katrina loves community organizing, permaculture and believes in the power of personal development programs, nurturing the inner garden to be a stronger contribution to the world. Katrina is on the board or Planting Justice, a non-profit in Oakland, CA that creates access to affordable, nutritious food by empowering disenfranchised urban residents with the skills, resources, and economic opportunities for sustainability in our neighborhoods. Katrina was also on the board for the Strong Foundation for Environmental Values. In 2007 Katrina served as the Co-Chair of the Built Environment committee with the HOPE Collaborative in Oakland, CA which became the leading committee in the nation through an asset mapping process for community development using green building, sustainable food systems, affordable housing, workforce protection, economic development, family and youth services. In 1999 Katrina found a love for localization through many years with the City Repair Project, a placemaking non-profit in Portland, OR, where she collaborated with multiple community agencies and Government resources to increase community benefit programs. She developed collateral for placemaking guidebooks and helped expand the program nationally with tours and a convergence for nine cities replicating the City Repair program.
